This month I celebrate my first year anniversary of being a travel blogger.
Sometimes things just fall in your lap when you least expect them. Travel blogging was one of those things for me.
It wasn’t something I planned, or sought out to do, it just happened. I got inspired by reading so many other traveler’s blogs and once I started, there was no turning back. I absolutely love sharing the stories and photographs of my journeys and offering travel guidance to my readers.
It’s like this- You know when you are standing in front of something beautifully majestic or outrageously interesting and you tap your pal next to you and say, “Holy #&%*! Look at that!”?
That is how blogging is for me. When I write a new post or share another photograph, it’s me tapping you on the shoulder and blurting out some expletive about what I see. All with the hopes that you will feel that energy I did when I was there. It’s my love of travel, photography, and storytelling wrapped up in one neat package.
Here are some of my favorite moments and photographs from my first year in the Blogosphere!
Fighting all of my fears and cliff jumping in Giglio Island, Italy.
The beauty of the crystal blue Mediterranean water.
This moment left me breathless.
An incredibly moving experience, just feet away from the Costa Concordia. Being on Giglio Island and doing the interviews for my book on the Gigliese’ experience with the Concordia has been a life changing experience for me.
Sunrise after camping on the beach in Santo Stefano, Italy.
Rome at night!
My partner, Tommaso, diving in Corsica, France.
Back in time in San Gimignano, Italy.
A planned chance meeting the master jeweler, Alessandro Dari.
Tommaso and I doing what we do best… laughing hysterically! I’m so lucky to have the best travel partner on the planet!
San Gimignano, Italy in the rain.
After a bit of research, I finally found The Peacock Room. Castello di Sammezzano in Reggello, Tuscany, Italy.
What traveling has gifted my son, happiness.
Living the fantasy in Boboli Gardens, Florence, Italy.
A moment captured in my own backyard- Dunedin, Florida.
Soaking in the thermal baths of San Filippo, Italy.
My five year old son exploring his newly discovered aquatic world.
Springtime in Tuscany.
The storybook coming to life in Isola Santa, Italy.
Taking my kids to experience the historic Palio race in Siena.
Lastly, I leave you with Sunset Zombies. You are welcome.
With all of this, I thank you, the readers. With each of the past twelve months my readership has continued to grow. I am grateful for each of you that have found something in my words or in my photographs that have brought you back.
Cheers to another great year of travel!
